Rob Tickell MA FCA

Rob is a Cambridge University Graduate and Chartered Accountant who qualified with Grant Thornton in 1986. After qualifying he pursued a career as Finance Director in Industry and commerce for over 20 years helping run a variety of privately owned businesses. He set up his consultancy practice Devon Finance Director in 2010 applying his skills to the benefit of many local clients in North Devon and nationally and joined Large Chartered Accountants in 2010 to enable him to fully support his clients’ statutory accounting and taxation needs. Rob took over management and ownership of the company in 2018 after the retirement of David and Margaret and renamed the practice “LCA” from 1st June 2019 to reflect the new era in the firm’s development. To support around 400 clients Rob leads the Team of three fully qualified ACCA managers and a number of AAT qualified support staff.

Sally-Ann Balment ACCA

Sally-Ann qualified as a chartered certified accountant in December 2014 and has been with the practice since 2004. She has a friendly and personable approach and has gained experience of dealing with a wide range of businesses including partnerships, sole traders, limited companies and personal tax clients. Her client base includes farmers, commercial businesses and a variety of trades.

Sally-Ann lives and helps out on her husband’s beef and sheep farm, especially at lambing time and has 2 farming mad sons.

John is an office-based accountant who qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1991. Being interested in the technical aspects of tax, he added a tax qualification in 1994, becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser. He is the longest standing member of the team, having been employed by Andre Potier’s firm which this practice subsequently acquired.

John’s clients include limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. He is also the person within the firm responsible for the preparation of accounts for charities and non-profit making organisations. In his spare time John likes walking and playing tennis and he was at one time a County standard chess player.

Susan Roper ACCA

Susan came to accountancy later in life. She joined the practice in 2010 and shortly afterwards qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant. She deals with most aspects of business, personal and self assessment tax as well as overseeing the payroll department and PAYE compliance. She supervises staff producing VAT returns for clients and accounts preparation work.

Susan’s first love is knitting. She has knitted the whole world – you can see it hanging in her office.

Hazel Short

After a career in fashion buying in London Hazel moved to Devon for quality of life and to focus on bringing up her two daughters.

She retrained in accountancy at Petroc and gained  AAT Level 3 before joining LCA in June 2017 to do bookkeeping, analysis and VAT returns. She is familiar with IRIS,  Kashflow, Sage and Quickbooks Accounts packages.

She enjoys walking, swimming, cycling, pilates and sailing in her spare time.

Katherine Large

Katherine is a level 3 AAT accountant who joined the practice in 2008. She operates payroll for the practice and meets and greets clients who visit our office.

Katherine is a keen runner, having run the London Marathon and enjoys walking and outdoor pursuits with her partner and 3 dogs.

Lorna Nott

Lorna has been completing VAT returns and bookkeeping on behalf of clients since working for Exmoor Accountancy, which this firm acquired in 1998.

Lorna owns and has been running her own farm with her husband for many years and she has extensive experience of all the accounting elements required to support all types of farming clients as well as many other kinds of businesses.

Tanya Wyatt

Tanya joined the practice in 2014 and has AAT level 4 qualification. Coming from a farming family, Tanya has extensive experience of the bookkeeping required for farm accounts together with practical elements of farm finance, single farm payments and other aspects of financial record keeping. She now has experience of book keeping for many other types of businesses and operates Sage, Kashflow and other accounts packages.

Tanya runs her own livestock farm where she lives with her partner and two daughters.
